Built with love by a local family - each member did their part to scavenge/source locally for the logs and stone used to create this breathtaking one-of-a-kind home.
We mention 'home' because it is was first built as a home - it was never a weekend getaway/investment property. It was crafted with love and care as a home for a family - and now WE are blessed to call it our home!
Guests mention how 'cozy' and 'homey' the cabin is compared to other short term rentals. Many are struck at how well stocked the entire home is. There's a simple explanation for having everything you need at your fingertips - because it IS our home that we live in, so it 'vibes' like a home not a rental.
How did we get here - why would we rent out OUR HOME?
For starters, it was never our intention to rent. We bought it as our home. It's a breathtaking package deal of a unique log cabin in the most gorgeous, natural and Q U I E T setting! We won the lottery on this one!
Renting it started organically.
The cabin is .25 miles off the dirt/gravel road. It sat abandoned for 30ish years - the birds and animals took it back. Thick vines and vegetation hid it if you ventured down the driveway. As the vines were hacked away, it started to reveal itself - and it looked right out of a horror movie, neighbors tell us!
BRAVE souls remodeled the cabin around 2018, adding several rooms and the luxury of plumbing and electricity! We bought it remodeled 3 years ago, and have added our spin to it.
Back to how we came to rent it!
Once we moved in, deliveries started arriving, revealing the previously unknown cabin to many people - and then serious inquiries began about renting it.
After several people asked about it, we thought, hmmmn, maybe this is a 'God nudge' so we began paying more attention to signs.
We are free spirits and thought, what the heck and decided to give it a try.
Let me tell you, it's a LOT to walk out of your home and allow strangers into it, trusting that they will care for it like you. With the high level of care and attention we give our guests, they have amazing experiences here. The best part? Many guests are now friends!
WHAT IT'S NOT:
It's not a cookie-cutter 'kit' log house. It's blood, sweat and tears built by hand, with love, by a family. It's perfectly imperfect.
It's not an action-packed destination. In every sense, it's the complete opposite.
It's not surrounded by other cabins or homes. You have pastures all around!
It's not a cold, sterile investment property. It is so much more, because at the root of it, it's a home first.

It's a spiritual setting. If you are spiritual, you will sense great energy out here.
It's a historically important site to the Choctaw.
It is VERY secluded. The stars at night are big and bright!
It's just 15 minutes to all the fun at Choctaw Casino Durant!

Let's talk legends...who doesn't love a cool 'legend has it' story! As I mentioned, legend has it, our land (located within .25 miles of the biggest land battle in this area) was blessed by Indians who recognized its historical importance and wanted to protect it. We've been told that after the big battle out here, Indians threw a tomahawk into a tornado to protect this land.
And by God, it's Oklahoma after all - land of BIG storms. We have anxiously watched radar with all the scary reds/greens on the maps and questioned if we were safe. It's been an AMAZING experience to ride out the storms here - they are loud, full of crazy energy, offer amazing light shows - and I'll be darned if we haven't also been safe. Clearly, there's no guarantee, but this has been OUR experience!
Crystals randomly show up all over this land. It's like it was made for a spiritual retreat. Reiki, QHHT Hypnosis, Guided Meditation, Yoga and Massages are available additions - with enough notice.

About the Owner
We bought this getaway as our 'escape' from the city life in Dallas. Nancy moved to Dallas in 1984 and has lived in NE Dallas/Lake Highlands since 1995. Seth moved to Texas from Colorado, where he lived on acreage, so this property felt like home to him. We have grown kids and envisioned this as THE meeting place for our beautiful blended family. We wanted enough land to be able to explore nature, stare at the stars at night, and not hear all the sirens and horns in the city! It NEVER was in our plans to BnB this property. However, as people visited, they fell in love with the uniqueness of the cabin and everyone wanted to rent it so they could share it with their friends/family. The cabin is still THE place for our family to visit, but we are thrilled to share this unique property with others, as there really is nothing like it - between it being a REAL log cabin with a cool history, and situated remotely with deer, cows, donkeys, frogs, birds and more as neighbors, this is genuinely a great escape from city life, yet a super easy trip to get here from the city!Amenities
This is not a 'destination cabin' like those at Broken Bow offering adventures, attractions, stores and restaurants nearby. This cabin is a true get-a-way in nature. Bring your food and supplies as the nearest store is 15 minutes away in Durant. Choctaw Casino is 20 minutes away. Lake Texoma is only 20 minutes away. There are rivers nearby for hiking/exploring.

The guest bath has access off the hallway and direct from the secondary bedroom. It's a huge bathroom with 2 sinks and granite counters, huge walk-in shower with a stone floor in shower, which gives you a little massage as you shower.
